The Sitges – International Film Festival of Catalonia Foundation has implemented a series of measures and recommendations to prevent the spread of the Sars-CoV-2 virus (COVID-19) for the duration of the Festival.

These measures and recommendations affect all of the Festival’s activities as well as all of the people who participate in them, including guests/accredited professionals, in-house and external workers and the general public. They are as follows:

 

IMPORTANT INFORMATION:

The Sitges-International Film Festival of Catalonia Foundation, as a result of the decree of measures in public health to contain the epidemic outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in the territory of Catalonia, has adopted a series of measures in order to adapt its protocols to the new restrictions. In this sense, the Festival maintains its firm commitment to protecting the health and safety of all spectators and workers. Starting at 00:00 on Friday, October 16, 2020, the schedules, capacity and development of Festival activities are modified.

Specific Protocol For The Melia Sitges Hotel Auditorium

Description of the venue and general measures.

Hotel Melià Sitges
(38, Joan Salvat Papasseit Street)

Occupation 100%

Seating capacity at 100% occupation: 1,380 seats

Occupation 50%

Maximum seating capacity (50%): 690 seats

Indoor

  • Air renewal: mechanical, optimal and certified, in accordance with total air renewal capacity.
  • Theater sanitation: following each screening.
  • Pre-allocation of seats and a nominal association with the person who has purchased the ticket(s).
  • Access to the theater by unauthorized persons between the end of one day and the beginning of the next will be prohibited.
  • Eating and drinking in the venue is prohibited.

Seating capacity

Two independent sectors. In each sector a maximum occupation of 50% of the seats will be established.

Venue entrance and access control

The hotel entrance is located on Emerencià Roig i Raventós Street. Overcrowding will be prevented at this point by applying the following measures:

  • Shared entrance with safety distance monitoring and access direction signage.
  • Access will be controlled via barcode / QR scanning.
  • At the entrance there will be: signs reminding visitors of the general hygiene and safety measures to be followed by the general public and properly marked sanitizing stations with hydroalcoholic gel.
  • To ensure a safe distance between people, the waiting lines to access the theater will be supervised by Festival organization personnel who will also warn that this distance must be respected whenever required.
  • Anyone who is not wearing their mask correctly will not be allowed to access the venue. If a person has no mask, he/she will be denied entry to the venue.

Specific measures inside the venue

  • Audiovisual messages at the start of each screening, reminding the audience of the measures to observe on the premises.
  • Public service announcements indicating that a safe distance must be observed at the exit, before evacuating the theater.
  • Separation of sectors by means of catenaries or other separating elements.
  • Signs indicating circuits, placed on the floor of the venue.
  • Ushers to help with the correct organization of theater access and exiting.

Exiting the theater

Overcrowding will be avoided during exiting by applying the following measures:

SECTOR 1:

  • The exit to the street will be via Emerencià Roig i Raventós Street.
  • Audiovisual messages will be displayed reminding people to keep a safe distance while exiting the theater.
  • People will not be allowed to stay in the hall that leads from the theater to the exit to the street. At this point, members of the organization will ensure that exiting is as smooth as possible, preventing overcrowding and dispersing groups.

SECTOR 2:

The same measures will be implemented as for Sector 1. The exit to the street will be via Ramon Dalmau Street.

Use of the toilets

The toilets located in the Meliá Sitges Hotel will have a limited maximum capacity and will be clearly indicated in each space. Each toilet will have a cleaning log located in a place that is visible to the general public.

In all toilets, there will be signs reminding users of the following measures:

  • Hand hygiene after using the toilets.
  • Use of the toilet tank with the lid down.

Specific Protocol For The Tramuntana Theater At The Hotel Melia Sitges

Description of the venue and general measures

  • Access to the theater by unauthorized persons between the end of one day and the beginning of the next will be prohibited.
  • Eating and drinking in the venue is prohibited.

Seating capacity

The seating capacity is set at a maximum of 50% of the total capacity.

Venue entrance and access control

Overcrowding will be prevented at the entrance by applying the following measures:

  • Access to this theater will be via the hotel entrance located on Ramon Dalmau Street.
  • Access will be controlled via barcode / QR scanning.
  • At the entrance there will be signs reminding visitors of the general hygiene and safety measures to be followed by the general public.
  • At the entrance there will be a properly marked sanitizing station with hydroalcoholic gel.
  • To ensure a safe distance between people, the waiting lines to access the theater will be supervised by Festival organization personnel who will also warn that this distance must be respected whenever required.
  • Anyone who is not wearing their mask correctly will not be allowed to access the venue. If a person has no mask, he/she will be denied entry to the venue.

Specific Protocol For The Brigadoon Theater (L’Escorxador)

Description of the venue and general measures

Capacity at 100% occupation: 180 people, standing, based on 2 people per square meter

  • Air renewal: non-mechanical air renewal systems. Ventilation is manually controlled following each screening and at the end of each day.
  • Theater sanitation: between screenings and at the end of each day.
  • Pre-allocation of seats and a nominal association with the person who has purchased the ticket(s).
  • Access to the theater by unauthorized persons between the end of one day and the beginning of the next will be prohibited.
  • Eating and drinking in the venue is prohibited.

Seating capacity

The capacity is calculated based on seating, with a distance of 1 m between each seat, occupying 2/3 of the room’s total surface area (60 m², 67% of its surface area). The resulting calculation is 77 people, all seated, guaranteeing a ratio of 1.16 m2 / person.

The new 50% capacity will be 49 people seated.

  • The theater entrance will be on Once de Septiembre Street (at the intersection with Joan Maragall).
  • Access will be controlled via barcode / QR scanning.
  • At the entrance there will be signs reminding visitors of the general hygiene and safety measures to be followed by the general public.
  • At the entrance there will be properly marked sanitizing stations with hydroalcoholic gel.
  • To ensure a safe distance between people, the waiting lines to access the theater will be supervised by Festival organization personnel who will also warn that this distance must be respected whenever required.
  • Anyone who is not wearing their mask correctly will not be allowed to access the venue. If a person has no mask, he/she will be denied entry to the venue.

  • Theater ventilation: manually controlled following each screening and at the end of each day, opening all doors that open to the outside or to other spaces in the building, on both sides of the building, in order to create an airflow. The minimum time for this operation will be 20 minutes.
  • CO₂ level monitoring using an officially certified device that ensures that levels do not exceed 800 ppm (particles/million). In the event that the limit is exceeded, partial air renewal will be triggered until the CO₂ level returns to the required parameters.

Exiting the theater

Overcrowding will be avoided during exiting by applying the following measures:

  • The exit to the street will be via Once de Septiembre Street (at the intersection with Joan Maragall).
  • Visitors will be reminded of the need to keep a safe distance while exiting.

Use of the toilets

This venue has no indoor toilets. An outdoor chemical toilet will be provided, which will be sanitized following each screening.

Specific Protocol For The Prado Theater

Seating capacity at 100% occupation: 366 seats

  • Air renewal: with non-mechanical air renewal systems. Its high spatial volume (7,560 m³, approx.) allows for a low concentration of carbon dioxide to be maintained.
  • Theater sanitation: between screenings and at the end of each day.
  • Pre-allocation of seats and a nominal association with the person who has purchased the ticket(s).
  • Access to the theater by unauthorized persons between the end of one day and the beginning of the next will be prohibited.
  • Eating and drinking in the venue is prohibited.

Seating capacity

A maximum use of 50% of the total seating capacity is guaranteed. The allocation will be as follows:

  • Available seats on the main floor, for the general public.
  • Available seats on the upper levels (boxes), for use by accredited guests (professional visitors).

Venue entrance and access control

Overcrowding will be prevented at the entrance by applying the following measures:

  • Access to this theater will be via Francesc Gumà Street.
  • Access will be controlled via barcode / QR scanning.
  • At the entrance there will be signs reminding visitors of the general hygiene and safety measures to be followed by the general public.
  • At the entrance there will be a properly marked sanitizing station with hydroalcoholic gel.
  • To ensure a safe distance between people, the waiting lines to access the theater will be supervised by Festival organization personnel who will also warn that this distance must be respected whenever required.
  • Anyone who is not wearing their mask correctly will not be allowed to access the venue. If a person has no mask, he/she will be denied entry to the venue.

Specific Protocol For The Retiro Theater

  • Air renewal: non-mechanical air renewal systems. Its high spatial volume (6.240 m³) allows for a low concentration of carbon dioxide to be maintained.
  • Theater sanitation: between screenings and at the end of each day.
  • Pre-allocation of seats and a nominal association with the person who has purchased the ticket(s).
  • Access to the theater by unauthorized persons between the end of one day and the beginning of the next will be prohibited.
  • Eating and drinking in the venue is prohibited.

Seating capacity

The seating capacity is set at a maximum of 50% of the total capacity. The allocation will be as follows:

  • Available seats on the main floor and circle (downstairs), for the general public.
  • Available seats on the upper levels (boxes), for use by accredited guests (professional visitors).

The calculated 50% capacity represents a total of 265 seats occupied of the total 530.

  • To ensure a safe distance between people, the waiting lines to access the theater will be supervised by Festival organization personnel who will also warn that this distance must be respected whenever required.
